Help Us Name These New Tree Peony Varieties!

When we started our farm, we were fortunate to purchase 300-400 Tree Peony seedlings from a peony grower looking to retire.

As the seedlings mature, we’re making decisions on which to introduce, what to name them and which to include in our breeding program.

Which is where we’d love your help!

We’d love to get your feedback on

1) The seedlings you think have the most promise.

2) Your suggestions on what to name the ones you like the most

Our generous readers have already helped us name our first round of seedlings for introduction. We’ve included those below so you can learn more about the plants and their beautiful names.

Now we need help on the plants showing the most promise in the current growing season.

In the comments below, list the Seedling ID, give us your thoughts on whether it merits introduction to the market and include your suggestions for names.

You can also just send me your thoughts directly to info@lyndakerfarms.com

And don’t forget to tell us why you’ve chosen that name!

As we choose varieties and names, we’ll be keeping our email list posted on our progress!

So here they are!

POtential Introductions - Based on 2021 Bloom Season Assessment

Please note: because it’s currently in the peak of the growing season, we haven’t had time to update all the descriptions yet. Keep an eye on this page. As we have spare moments, we are progressively adding to the descriptions and/or photos.

Honestly, I need feedback on this one. It’s surely beautiful. It’s also quite simple.

Personally, I love the flower and will definitely be making space for it in my personal garden.

But what’s your opinion as to whether it warrants registration and introduction? Please give your (candid) thoughts in the comments below.

Some info on the plant itself:

  • it’s a slower grower.

  • the plant remains on the smaller side for us (but could grow larger in warmer zones?)

  • it shows good disease resistance

  • the blooms are fragrant

  • we are still observing to make sure it’s a reliable bloomer

  • flowers are presented very well
